About

Reiko Yamamoto makes modern, versatile and functional pottery for everyday use. Each and every piece is designed, made and fired in her studio in Pittsburgh, PA.

Having grown up in Japan, Reiko ate meals everyday using handmade pottery. In her family (and true in most Japanese homes), there was no concept of a complete dinnerware set and instead, the table was a vivid array of dishes of various sizes, colors, shapes and patterns. This contributed for her love of mix and match sensibility as well as her appreciation for well designed functional objects. Reiko hopes that her work gets handled daily and meal and conversations are shared in its presence. She is dedicated to creating quality work that celebrates the handmade and continues the long tradition of ceramics.

Reiko has a BFA from The College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
